Cellphone radiation levels

Today, I was on NPR's News and Notes show discussing everything from the iPhone to hands-free laws. We also discussed the recent warning about cellphones and possible health implications. On the show I mentioned SAR and Radio-frequency being emitted from phones and promised to post the info. So according to the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA), specific absorption rate, or SAR, is "a way of measuring the quantity of radiofrequency (RF) energy that is absorbed by the body." For a phone to pass FCC certification, that phone's maximum SAR level must be less than 1.6W/kg (watts per kilogram). from cnet.com
